Logo and Company Name
Company Name and Logo Design
Production company Name- Silent Screen Studios
To develop a professional identity for my film, I need to create a company name to be showcased during the credits. I first composed a list of potential studio names. This ranged from various options that could give a corporate feel to the studio. During this brainstorming phase, I wanted to find a name that accomplished two things. First, I needed it to fit the horror genre. This is essential because the name needs to be attractive to the audience and set an expectation for the film. I wanted to avoid names that felt too safe as they don't align with the nature of a horror film about a kidnapped victim. To achieve this I focused on words that were threatening and dreadful. By leaning into horror tropes I can establish my brand and make it easy for the audience to know what they will get. The second thing I wanted was to focus on alliterations because it creates a memorable name that sticks in viewers minds. This gives more rhythm and easier for audiences to memorize. I found the S alliteration the best because I wanted to include studios in the name. This allowed for a variety of options with words like spooky or sinister being considerations. I found these were a bit on the nose and not fit well with what I was going for. After going through all of my ideas, I decided on the name Silent Screen Studios. It ties back to the themes of my film without being too literal. The term silent creates a sense of dread and anticipation. Screen establishes the name as a part of the cinematic industry. This combination is unsettling and signals a suspenseful tone to the audience. It can also tie back into my story because silence is evoked when Bob is walking through an isolated environment in the dark street at night. Screen relates to the found footage element that drives the entire plot. Add on studios to the end and it adds to the professionalism of the name.

Logo Creation-
The next step is developing a brand is creating a logo. This is important because it needs to be easily recognizable so it can become popular. The logo needs to create brand recall and narrative expectation. This means the logo should stick to viewers minds and introduce the horror genre. It will play in the beginning during the credits and be a sneak peak of the dread to come. For the name of Silent Screen Studios it needs to represent terror while also being appealing. The first concept that came into my mind was to use the alliteration of the S's to build a logo with three S's in a row. I tried out three different fonts with effects for this. This concept is not effective for a couple of reasons. Random people wouldn't know what this stands for so brand identity is lost. It is also bland and has no correlation to the horror genre.
Building off of this I created a design that used the full name of Silent Screen Studios. I used a different font for each word to make each feel unique. The next step was determining the color scheme. My initial idea was the neon blue but it didn't work when typing out the full word because it was hard to read and the blue doesn't match horror well. My next idea was using yellow and white. This worked because there is a nice contrast and with bolded lettering it is easily legible for any audience. The yellow is also effective because it is the same color of caution tape on a crime scene, so the connotation the color brings fits with horror. The elliptical word of studios creates a clear structure with visual balance between the aggressive Silent Screen and still including studios to show its a production company. The final aspect of my logo design was adding an aspect of horror in it. I decided to go with a scar like design and place it behind the name. This is horror iconography that is effective because it uses aggressive lines to signify the genre. The scar makes the logo stand out because it adds a layer without being too distracting. It also signifies the physical danger the characters are in at the end of my film. I tried putting a circle around it but I found it ineffective because I wanted the logo to feel more violent and unpredictable. This circle would create a clean composition that has a bland feeling to it. The open design allows the logo to be easily added on to more promotion in a professional way that increases brand identity.
