    Basic Plot Summary-

    The Initial plan of my film was to create an opening that builds suspense and could lead into an immersive full film. This opening will be apart of a horror movie that has mystery elements within it. 

The opening will follow a teenage boy named Bob who is finishing up shopping at a store. The opening credits will roll with the roles as Bob is grabbing items in the store. He has to walk home at night and his mom is nervous about why he isn't home yet. His mom calls him and urges him to hurry up because she is getting worried. Time passes as Bob continues to walk in the neighborhood when he hears a loud ringing sound from a mysterious phone abandoned on the streets. When he picks up the device, there is a video message on the device. He plays the video, and we see the camera back and forth from his point of view watching the video and seeing his facial reactions to it. The video is of a woman tied up to a chair in a garage. A mysterious man comes into the screen and starts interrogating her. They continue their conversation and it is about a key that is missing. The girl has no idea what the man is talking about. He doesn't believe a word she says and urges her to tell the truth. Bob starts touching his keys that are in his pocket during it in confusion. Bob is watching frightened and in the middle of the video a loud noise comes from the streets. He jumps out of fear and it turns out a trash can was tipped over. He is relieved and goes back to watch the video. The opening ends as it cuts to Bobs face with a loud noise coming from the screen because the guy brings out an axe and kills the victim. It turns out the victim is Bobs mom. This will be foreshadowed earlier on in the opening during the phone call. The screen cuts to black and the title drops. 

    My approach to this opening centers on building psychological suspense through dramatic irony and the transition from the safety of a grocery store to the danger of the night. The audience follows Bobs point of view and will feel the horror he is going through during it. The narrative relies on foreshadowing and show don't tell to connect the clues of the mysterious. Tension will be created by jump scares and the final blow to his mother. This averts expectations because most films wouldn't outright kill the main characters mother, but her death sets the tone and shows this film will be devastating.
